Rodney Lynn Steen, 70 of Moorhead, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2025, at his home in Moorhead, Minnesota.

Rod was born in Ortonville, Minnesota on February 25, 1955, to Sanford and Joyce (Watkins) Steen. At a young age the family moved to Moorhead, Minnesota were Rod attended school graduating from Moorhead High School in 1973. Rod was proud to be a wrestler during high school. After high school Rod started his career in the carpentry business. He was very honored to be part of the carpenters union of Minnesota.

Rod enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially driving around North Moorhead to make sure the neighborhood was safe. You could always see the silver Toyota doing a drive-by. Rod had quite the curious nature about him. He was fascinated to learn how things were built and how they ran. Half the time he could tell you how they ran.

Rod enjoyed dinners at his brother Brad’s house and spent many hours watching Mash re-runs with him.

Rod was not a fan of cooking and he was quite a regular at the Frying Pan of Moorhead and love to go to the Shack for lunch with his friend Doug.

Rod is known for his kindness and a smile on his face. Rod will be missed by many family and friends. Rod loved to laugh and really loved his dog in law, Zeus.

Rod is survived by siblings, Myra Hummel and Brad (Lori) Steen; nephews, Jack and Gabe Steen and Jamie Hummel; nieces, Miranda Udean and Santana Huppa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Terry and Sanford Jr (Skip) Steen.

Rod’s memorial gathering will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Moorhead American Legion from 1-5 PM.
