Ronald Leroy "Ron" Lund

April 24, 1943 — December 18, 2023

Moorhead, MN

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Leroy Lund on December 18, 2023.

Ron was born on April 24, 1943; in Breckenridge, MN; to Clarence and Elizabeth (Henkenius) Lund. His family moved North to Moorhead, MN; and later graduated from Moorhead High School in 1962. In 1967 he married Bernadette Spencer, had four children, and later divorced. He married again in 1977 to Nancy Mitchell, had two children, and later divorced.

Ron worked for many years in the meatpacking industry in West Fargo. After the plant closed down he finished up his working years at Microtel. There, he provided all-around maintenance, and, as he’d like to say, “Diligently maintained the delicate balance of the chemicals in the pool.”

Ron loved the outdoors and anything associated, such as fishing and camping. He took every chance he could to get out and ride around on his Harley. Even after breaking his hip - much to the chagrin of his daughter, Holly. While at home he always had a crossword by his chair, or his guitar plugged into an amp. Seinfeld, an old Spaghetti Western, or a Vikings or Twins game were some of his favorites and were often found playin on the television.. He also enjoyed cooking, and really loved a good deal.

If you didn’t know him well, Ron might have seemed like a man of few words. But he was always ready with a cup of coffee for anyone that wanted to sit down and trade old stories. Ron was a man who rarely asked for help for anything, but was quick to offer it, or advice, to those that needed it

Ron is survived by his children - Tina Lund, Dripping Springs, TX; Bret (Anita) Lund, Statesville, NC; Steve (Jo) Lund, Lockney, TX; Billy (Robin) Lund, Dripping Springs, TX; Tim (MaryClaire) Lund, Moorhead, MN; and Holly Lund, Moorhead, MN; his sisters, Gayle Pfau and Mernie Nicholas; as well as his 16 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his sister Judy McFarlin, and his brother David Lund.
