Rosemarie
Johnk
Jul 29, 1948 — Jul 1, 2026
Rosemarie “Rosie” Johnk, 77, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, at Sanford Hospice in Fargo, ND.
Rosie was born in Fargo, ND, on July 29, 1948, and lived her entire life in Minnesota. She attended school in Comstock and Moorhead before graduating from Moorhead State University with degrees in Music Education and Business Administration.
Music was Rosie’s passion and gift. She was a professional singer, pianist, choir director, and bell ringer who shared her talents throughout the Fargo-Moorhead community and beyond. She sang and played bells with the Concordia Master Chorale for many years, directed church choirs, and had the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall in New York, Notre-Dame de Paris, and other cathedrals throughout Europe.
Rosie’s faith and church family were a central part of her life. She loved serving others through music, worship, and fellowship. She also loved traveling, spending time with friends, and caring for her many beloved pets. A lifelong Minnesota Twins fan, Rosie even named many of her pets after former players, a perfect reflection of her personality and passions.
Those who knew Rosie will remember her beautiful voice, generous heart, and especially her wonderful laugh that could brighten any room. She created countless memories through music, friendship, and family, including singing with her sister and brother-in-law, Larry.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy Cuklanz; nieces Julie Cuklanz (Ian), Stefanie (Jerrod) and Maddie Yeager; Kris (Ben) Rosaasen; nephews Joe, Dave (Deb) Zimmerman, and John Mayo; many cousins; and dear friends Alice Volochenko and Tammy Tvedt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Erhardt and Adeline Johnk; sister Carol Zimmerman; brothers-in-law Dennis Zimmerman and Larry Cuklanz; and niece Debbie Zimmerman Mayo.
Rosie will be remembered for her faith, music, laughter, kindness, and the joy she brought to every pet she loved.
