Roxann Rae Haskins

Roxann Rae (Porter) Haskins, 77, of Perley, MN, passed away after a hard-fought three-year battle with a rare form of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Cancer. She died in her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 24, 2022. She was born on April 19, 1945, to Clifford Sr. and Antoinette (Lehman) Porter in Breckenridge, MN.

Roxann grew up in Tintah, MN, and later attended school at St. Frances De Sales Catholic School in Moorhead, MN. Her family moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she worked for Old Dutch. She later began her work in the medical field as a Nursing Assistant, starting out in Minneapolis/St. Paul, and working in Alexandria, Dilworth, and later in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

In Alexandria, she met Harry Haskins, and they were united in marriage on January 12, 1976, in Dilworth, MN. Harry and Roxann began their own company, Double R Janitorial Services, servicing the Fargo-Moorhead area. Their next adventure they started a business called FM Car Care detailing cars. In addition, Roxann worked as a Nursing Assistant for local nursing homes such as Moorhead Healthcare, Villa Maria, Bethany, and lastly at Eventide. Roxann and Harry eventually moved out to a farm near Perley, MN, where she continued working in Moorhead. There, she loved taking care of her family and maintaining their farm.

Roxann was a life-member of the Moorhead VFW and Women’s Auxiliary. She was a strong-willed woman with a great sense of humor, sharp wit, and had passion for taking care of others. Her love for all kinds of animals, to include the animals on her farm. She was always concerned for and loved taking care of her grandchildren and made a point to partake in all their activities.

Roxann was survived by her loving husband, Harry; children, Jody Bender, Carolyn (Jeff) Monson, Lowell (Kimberly) Bender, Todd Bender, Tamera Porter, Michael Adams, and Dwayne Haskins (Nicola); 25 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Loyse Porter Robert Porter, and her sister-in-law Susan Porter and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her daughter (BillIie Jo Porter); parents, Clifford and Antoinette; and siblings, Eugene, Dennis, Roland, Marlene, and Clifford Jr.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the Celebration of Life at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 2, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Burial will take place at Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND, following the service.
