Russell Curtis “Russ” Hedstrom

Russell Curtis “Russ” Hedstrom, 74, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, at VA Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Russ was born on November 15, 1947, to Ogden and Edith (Berg) Hedstrom in Detroit Lakes, MN. He attended and graduated from Lake Park High School, Lake Park, MN. He then attended Moorhead State University for two years prior to being drafted into the United States Army, serving his country during the Vietnam War. After he returned, he continued his education at Moorhead State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree. While at MSU, he met the love of his life, Debbie Boe, and they were united in marriage on March 20, 1971, in Hatton, ND.

Russ and Debbie moved to Aberdeen where Russ began his career as an insurance adjustor for the General Adjustment Bureau. They later moved back to Fargo, ND, where Russ worked for various insurance companies. After his retirement from insurance, he began enjoying the lake life with his family on Lake Ida.

Russ enjoyed coaching his sons softball teams, practicing his golf game, and fishing. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

Russ is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Debbie; children, Barry Hedstrom, Wendy (Scott) Paulsen, Brady (Brianne) Hedstrom, and Kirby (Angie) Hedstrom; grandchildren, Justin and Jessa Ryttie, Hailey and Ashley Paulsen, Briar and Wren Hedstrom, Brooks and Alma Hedstrom; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ogden and Edith; and brothers, Ronald and Robert Hedstrom.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 P.M., Friday, May 27, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN. Burial will be at Lake Park Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Park, MN, following the service.
