Dilworth

Sandra Molstre, 82, Dilworth, MN, died March 13, 2023, at Lilac Homes in Dilworth.

Sandra Louise Overby was born in Glenwood, MN on September 20, 1940 to Clifford and Harriet (Monroe) Overby. She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1959 and obtained a medical technician degree in Minneapolis.  On April 3, 1961 she married her high school sweetheart, Gary Molstre. They lived along the East Coast while Gary was in the U.S. Navy but after his honorable discharge they moved back to Minnesota and settled in Glenwood where their children were born.  The family lived in Thief River Falls and Coon Rapids, MN while Gary worked for UPS but moved again to begin their family owned businesses of Molstre Trucking Company (Hawley) and Mudpumpers Mudjacking (Dilworth).

While Sandy kept busy maintaining their home and raising four children, she also worked as bookkeeper for both their businesses.  Silver Lake 4-H was a big part of family life and Sandy was always supportive of all her children’s activities.  She was proud to serve on the board that established St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Hawley and she loved being involved in Hawley Booster Club and Aletha. Sandy loved music and enjoyed playing guitar at church.  Enjoying time at the lake and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and Twins also brought great memories.  Sandy and Gary were known for their yearly Halloween parties that would take months of preparation.

Sandy is survived by her children, Tracy (Chris) Baxter, Shelly (Mike Varriano) Molstre, Kathy (Jeff) Bolger and Steve (Jacquie) Molstre; grandchildren, Brady (Jackie), Cody (Telia) and Sadie Baxter, Jordan(Hannah), Max and Sammy Bolger, Kinzie (Patrick) Sorum, Keasha (Blaine) Gorton, Kayla and Joey Molstre; great-grandchildren, Rocky and Beau Baxter, Aubree Gorton and Everly Sorum; brothers, Larry Overby, Steve (Robin) Overby and Paul Overby.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bobby, and her husband, Gary.

A private family service will be held.
