Savannah Leigh Marie (Pavek) Dickelman, daughter of Bradley Wayne and Monica S. (Straley) Pavek, was born January 12, 1985 in Fargo, ND. She passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle against an extremely rare (Leiomyosarcoma) cancer.

Savannah graduated from Shanley High School (Fargo, ND) class of 2003. While in her sophomore year of high school she was proud to earn the distinction of serving as a U.S. Senate page for Senator Byron Dorgan of North Dakota. The same year (2001) she met her soulmate and future husband, Heath Dickelman, at a 4th of July celebration. Savannah graduated from Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID with a Bachelor Degree in Educational Interpreting in 2008. While in college, Savannah nannied for an incredible family that continued to be a big part of her life. Following graduation, Savannah and Heath moved to Colorado Springs, CO to become “mountain people.” However, God had different plans for them which in turn brought them closer to home when they moved to Sioux Falls, SD.

Savannah and Heath were united in marriage on August 15, 2009 at Camp K.A.C.E. (Kids Against Cancer Everywhere) near Vergas, MN where Heath previously attended summer cancer camp due to his childhood cancer. Her previous experience in Idaho launched her fulltime nanny career in Sioux Falls. This eventually led to Savannah juggling 13 families as they lovingly “fought” over her time.

In 2013, Savannah opened an in-home daycare.  Her passion and ultimate goal was to impact children with life skills to help them grow and prepare for school.  While at the same time letting them be kids and have fun. Children from 18 years ago were still reaching out to her.

Savannah’s first and favorite roll was being a mom and wife. She put her heart and soul into her 3 children; Hadleigh, Eason, and Axel. She gave them the world any chance she got. Savannah loved time spent with family, especially camping, the lake cabin and the hunting cabin. She’d pick the woods over a sunny beach every time.

Her love, determination, and will power made her a force to be reckoned with.  Anyone who knew her, understood when she set a goal it was meant to be achieved, earning her the affectionate name of “Bana-nator”. When she let someone into her world, she gave them every part of her.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Heath A. Dickelman, Sioux Falls, SD; their children, Hadleigh (13), Eason (10), and Axel (20 months) Dickelman; her mother, Monica Pavek, Fargo, ND; her brother, John (Ashley) Pavek, Sioux Falls, SD; her father and mother-in-law, Hal and Karen Dickelman, Moorhead, MN; brother-in-Law, Brady (Mallory) Dickelman, Moorhead, MN; niece and nephews, Lilian Pavek, Ollie and Gus Dickelman; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Brad Pavek on March 7, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to the education fund for Hadleigh, Eason, and Axel.
