Scott Jeffrey Olson, 72, of Lake Park, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Essentia Hospital.

Scott was born on February 16, 1954, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Lyle and Lyla Olson. He lived much of his life in Lake Park, Minnesota, where he made his home and built many memories.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Scott worked in masonry during his early years. Later, he worked as a custodian in the Lake Park-Audubon School System until he retired due to his health.

Scott loved his family very much and was especially proud of his siblings, nieces, and nephews. Family was an important part of his life, and he loved the time he spent with them. Scott was strong-willed and, as anyone who knew him would agree, held firmly to his beliefs. His determination would sometimes drive us crazy, but it is also one of the things we will smile about and miss most.

Scott enjoyed watching all kinds of sports, with NASCAR driver Tony Stewart and his beloved Minnesota Vikings among his favorites. He also had a deep love for the outdoors, fishing, and motorcycling. Scott loved his motorcycles, especially his favorite cycle “Connie", and he loved the freedom he felt when he was riding. We find comfort in imagining him now-free from pain, at peace, and riding once again with nothing but an open road ahead of him.

He will be deeply missed by his sister Kathy (David) Mattson of Lake Park; brothers Todd (Karen) Olson of San Diego; and Troy (Carmen) Olson of Hawley; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Lyla Olson; sister Debbie Nelson; and brother-in-law Mark Nelson.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 17, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 PM, in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
