Sharon R. Capps

Sharon Capps, age 78, of Moorhead, MN passed away peacefully January 6, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her three children, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Sharon Rae Marshall was born on October 17, 1942 in Fargo, ND to William and Loraine (Dravis) Marshall. Sharon grew up and attended school in Fargo. Following graduation, she married Charles Van Raden in 1960. Sharon and Charles made their home in Moorhead and had three children: Tina, Ricky, and Barbara. While staying home to raise her family, Sharon also helped with the family business, Northwest Divers in Moorhead. After Sharon and Charles separated, she began working at the Moorhead Library which she enjoyed for many years. Sharon moved to Colorado and met William “Bill” Capps. The couple moved back to Moorhead and they were married in 1989. Following Bill’s passing in 1990, Sharon worked for Farmers Insurance and then started a childcare business in 1996, which she ran for numerous years until her health began to decline.

Sharon adored time spent reading or working in her beautiful flower gardens. She was very talented at cross stitching, crafts, and sewing and made many cherished projects over the years and was also an excellent cook and baker. Sharon enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends. She had many beloved companion dogs over the years to keep her company, each holding a special piece of her heart. Sharon was very strong-willed and independent, and she will be greatly missed by her loved ones.

Sharon is survived by her children, Tina (James) Van Hoecke, Ricky (Sheila) Van Raden, and Barb (Kevin) Bigger; grandchildren, Joshua Van Raden, Marshall Van Hoecke, Raymond Van Hoecke, Amanda Van Hoecke, and Jenna Van Raden; and two great-grandchildren, Caius Van Raden and Ezra Van Raden,

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, William and Loraine; husband, William Capps; sister, Betty Saumweber; and brother, William Marshall Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 11, at 11:00 A.M., with a visitation starting one hour before, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo. A livestream of the service will be available at 11:00 on Sharon’s page at www.wrightfuneral.com. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, following the service.
