Sonja Blegen Hanrahan

Sonja Marie Blegen was born in Fargo, ND, January 2, 1933, to Arthur and Alma (Sandquist) Blegen.

The family moved to Moorhead, MN in 1940. After graduating from Moorhead High School, she attended North Dakota Agriculture College (now NDSU), graduating in 1955. She was employed as a micropaleontologist with Shell Oil Company in Bakersfield and Los Angeles, CA and Houston, TX for about 27 years.

She was married to Forrest Mulvane for 17 years.

After retirement, she returned to Moorehead, remaining there until her marriage to Thomas N. Hanrahan, a retired Shell geophysicist, in Vancouver, WA.

She is survived by her nephew Kurt Blegen and niece Corrie Hackbarth, both of Duluth, MN, and their families, Thomas E. Hanrahan and family, Edmonds, WA; James Hanrahan and family in Magnolia, TX.

She was predeceased by her husband Tom, her parents Arthur and Alma, and her brother Paul Blegen.
