Timothy G. Ausland

Timothy G. Ausland, 72, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in Eventide on 8th, Moorhead, MN. Tim was born April 13, 1953, in Webster, SD, to Gaius and Sheila (Olson) Ausland. At an early age, they moved to California, where he graduated from Monta Vista High School. In 1974, he moved to South Dakota and began working. Tim met the love of his life, Karen Zacher, and they were married on August 29, 1981. Together they made their home in South Dakota before moving to Bemidji, MN. They later moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, in 1992. Tim continued to work there until they settled in Moorhead in 2014.

Over the years, Tim enjoyed spending time on the water, surfing in his younger years, fishing whenever he could, and took great pride in helping others. He was stubborn but caring and loving at the same time. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Tim will be remembered for the care he showed others and the love he had for his family.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Tyler (Kayla) Ausland, Ashley Hanson, Kay Ausland; grandchildren, Vincent and Madison Hanson; siblings, Mark (Jan) Ausland, Lyn (Ray) Heidenson, Kent (Laurie) Ausland, Susan (Dave) Olson, Scott (Angie) Ausland, Jule (Bruce) Taylor, Nancy Ausland; and many nieces and nephews.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Gaius and Sheila, and brother, Jeffrey.

A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, November 8, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM. Family and friends may gather at the Club Room at 4590 49th Ave S., Fargo, ND 58104.
