Trent Allen Bekkerus was born April 21, 1960, to Russell and Lois Bekkerus. He passed away in his home in Bradenton, FL on Sept 9, 2026.

Trent grew up in Glyndon, Mn. He enjoyed running around the family farm with his brother Mark and sister LeeAnn and many cousins that would often visit. His love for cars started there, as his dad also loved old cars and they shared an enthusiasm for them. He had a 57 chevy [candy apple red] that his dad helped him find and fix up. He graduated from Glyndon Felton High School in 1978. After high school he helped on the farm for a while before leaving for various jobs. He worked for John Deere in Bismark for a period then moved on to installing irrigation systems before returning to the FM area and worked selling cars. He then moved to Florida and worked installing AC systems for Brown HVAC company. He met Karen Morgan; they married in 1987.

After returning to his hometown several years later, his last venture was as co-owner of Moorhead Auto Center with Blake Taft. He loved selling cars, going to auctions and meeting new people. He developed quite a rapport with customers. Many became regulars and would stop back just to see him and visit. Trent and Blake eventually sold Moorhead Auto Center location to the City of Moorhead in 2023. That led to his decision to relocate back in Florida to be near his children and grandchildren. For the past 3 years Trent’s time was filled with family dinners, school pickups and dropoffs and sports events that kept him busy every day heading wherever needed. Trent loved being a hands-on grandpa and spending time with his 5 grandsons.

Trent is preceded in death by his father Russell in 2019. Trent is survived by his mother Lois Bekkerus of Moorhead; son Tyler (Emily) Bekkerus of Bradenton, Florida, twin daughters Nicole Bekkerus and Morgan Bekkerus of Apollo Beach, Florida; grandsons Wesley, Deacon, Graeme, Mason and Camden of Bradenton, Florida; brother Mark (Linda) Bekkerus of Glyndon, Mn, and sister LeeAnn Bekkerus of Breckenridge, Mn. 

A memorial service with Livestream will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 2 p.m. with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Memorials will go toward a bench with Trent's name on it on Anna Maria Island in Florida where Trent enjoyed sitting and taking in the views and watching the sunset.
