Velma L. Schneeweis, 92, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo, ND. Vel was born January 24, 1934, in Richland County, near Great Bend, ND, to Adolph and Dorthea (Gast) Ziegelmann. After graduating from high school and moving to Grand Forks years down the road, Vel continued her education at Aakers Business College in Grand Forks. Over the years, she enjoyed a 38-year career with Avon as a sales agent and became part of the President’s Club. She took pride in her work and found joy in conversing with her clients. On September 1, 1979, she married Donald Schneeweis in Grand Forks, ND. Together, they made their home in Bismarck, where they lived until they moved to Moorhead in 1983. They strongly supported the Special Olympics as coaches and mentors, and Vel was recognized as an Outstanding Volunteer in 2001 for her commitment and involvement with the organization. Vel also received the Daryl Bjelde award in 2012. Vel was also heavily involved with CCRI of Moorhead, where she chaperoned dances, helped at prom, and was one of the few non-employees to have her own mailbox at CCRI; she also shared stories with staff and volunteers. She will be dearly missed.

Vel is survived by her daughters, Beverly (Don) Sherlin of Sweetwater, TN, and Brenda (Mike) Glimsdahl of Grand Forks, ND; sons, Bruce (Paulette) Remore of Grand Forks, ND, and David Schneeweis of Moorhead, MN. Paul Feltman (Life Partner of Bonnie) and 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; daughter, Bonnie Remore; and sisters, Grace (Alfred) Medenwald and Frances (Leonard) Prochnow.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 17, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, with funeral service at 11:00 AM, in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Interment will be at Memorial Park South, Grand Forks, ND.
