Verna Mae Olson

Verna Mae (Kessler) Olson of Fargo, ND, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021, at age 77 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.  Verna was born in Harvey, ND on April 14, 1943, to Samuel and Clara (Engel) Kessler.

She is survived by her:

• Children – Susannah Olson of Dilworth, MN; Patty (Olson) Cheney of Phoenix, AZ; and Harley Olson of Fargo, ND;

• Siblings – Gordon Kessler of Wolverton, MN; Ralph (Barbara) Kessler of Horace, ND; and Wanda (Roger) Meyer of West Fargo, ND;

• Grandchildren: Nathan McLaughlin, Leo Olson, Bethany (Kyle) Prashek, Alexandra (Matthew) Cantrell, Samantha Olson, and Sabrina Olson

• Great-grandchildren: Hanna Cantrell and Nicholas Cantrell.

She was preceded in death by her:

• parents;
• granddaughter, Angela Richards; and,
• great-grandson, Jason Richards.

Verna graduated from Moorhead Tech in 1986 with a diploma in general secretary.  She also worked as a waitress and bartender in the past but her true calling was telephone sales, which she was very good at and did for many years.  She enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, dice and  bingo.
