Violet Lucille Lien

Violet Lucille (Iverson) Lien, 98, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Essentia Health Hospital, Fargo, ND. Violet, daughter of Florence and Syver Iverson, was born on August 6th, 1923. She married Richard “Dick/Bud” Lien and together they had 6 daughters and gained 6 sons in law.

Violet was a Minnesota girl. She attended District 99 School, graduating in 1942. She then worked for the Fergus Falls Journal until her marriage in 1946. She has been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 68 years, participating in most all activities and was involved in many volunteer programs. She was a quilter to the end and loved her quilting friends. Violet was a stay-at-home mom until 1970 when she started working as a health tech for Moorhead Public Schools. She loved playing the piano by ear, even with her failing eyesight she still loved to play. At 15, she played in a dance band with family members. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Violet is survived by her daughters, Gail (Silverstein) Lien, Joan (Lonnie) Guenthner, Marcia Smith, Paulette Beeson, Rachel (Joel) Nikle, and Wanda (Rick) Stenerson; grandchildren, Justin, Becky, Jacob, Adam, Ricky, Cullin, Leah, Alex, Joanna, Jack, and Mike; 18 great-grandchildren; Mark Silverstein; and many other loving relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dick; sons-in-law, Steven Smith and Brant Beeson; 1 sister; and 5 brothers.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., with a prayer service beginning at 5:30 P.M., Friday, August 5, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will continue from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. A livestream of the service will be available here on her webpage. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN, at a later date.
