Carla Carlson

Carla Carlson, 91, Fargo, ND, formerly Comstock, MN, died on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, MN.

Carla Roberta Hoffman was born on December 29, 1926, in Fargo, ND, the fifth daughter of Carl and Clara (Schwandt) Hoffman.  She graduated from Comstock High School and worked at Bell Telephone in Fargo, ND.

On October 27, 1945, she married Marvin Carlson.  Marvin was in the Army and was in Germany for less than a year after they first married.  When he returned, they lived on a farm near Comstock, MN and farmed for many years until Marvin retired.  Carla did work outside of the home, but her true joy was cooking for the working crew.  She cooked and served breakfast, lunch, dinner, lunch, supper and lunch!  She was known for her baking, too…wonderful pies, cookies, etc. that the grandchildren loved! When Marvin retired they moved to an apartment in Fargo.

Carla was an active member of Comstock Lutheran Church and Lydia Circle.  She also had a wonderful circle of friends from the Comstock/Rustad area that met at least once a month for lunch.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Lorrie) Carlson, of Fergus Falls, MN; grandson, Tyler (Brandy) Carlson and great-grandchildren, Gavin and Jasmine, of Medina, MN, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; her parents; her sisters, Harriette (Panasuk) Prickett, Dorothy Sleeper, Audrey Smylie and Marguerite Hohncke; and her granddaughter, Elisha.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 12, 2018, at 5:30 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. Friends and family may gather from 4:30 to 5:30 P.M. A private family burial will take place in the spring at Clara Cemetery in Comstock, MN.
