Donald Lee “Don” Matthys

Donald “Don” Lee Matthys, 64, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019, in Sanford Health Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Don was born on February 15, 1955, to Leo and Mildred (Jensen) Matthys in Moorhead, MN. He graduated from Moorhead High School and was a member of the ROTC program. He joined the military shortly after graduation and was stationed in Germany, performing maintenance on military tanks. He returned to the states with a motorcycle he had purchased in Germany and rode it back to Fargo, ND. His interest in graphic design and modeling aided him in the creation of his business, Don’s Light and Magic.

Don was very artistic and was always quite detailed in his work and thoughts. He enjoyed creating detailed models and works of photography. He was a cinema buff who enjoyed war and fantasy film, most notably the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises.

Don is survived by his mother, Mildred Matthys; siblings, Lynn (Curtis) Bitker, Dale Matthys, Joan (David) Lee, Karen (Keith) Jacobson, and Keith Matthys; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Leo.

Final resting place will be at Oak Mound Cemetery, Kragnes Township, on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at 3:00 P.M., followed by the memorial gathering from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
