Elizabeth Williams

Elizabeth Williams, Lake Park, MN, died on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 in her home, surrounded by her loving family under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Elizabeth was born on September 27, 1960, in Fargo, ND, to Tom and Judy (Ireland) Williams. She grew up in Fargo and then attended and graduated from the Madiera School in Virginia. After high school, she attended Texas Christian University and NDSU, where she graduated. She moved to Annapolis, Maryland where she became certified in the Montessori method of teaching. Elizabeth returned to Fargo to work as an educator. Later, she served in various ministry roles, including becoming a jail chaplain after finishing her certification through Wheaton College in IL.

One of Elizabeth’s greatest joys was being a mother to Katherine, Griffin, and Cora as well as a dedicated wife to her husband, Paul Berthelsen. She also enjoyed gardening, horseback riding, cooking, and decorating. She loved spending time with her friends, family, and grandchildren. She had a joyful spirit, a compassionate heart, and a warm smile.

Elizabeth loved her Lord and Savior Jesus and walked closely with him. She was known for enthusiastically sharing stories of God at work.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband Paul Berthelsen, Lake Park, MN; her children Katherine (Tate) Petry, Ada, MN, Griffin (Alexandra) Williams, Barrington, IL, and Cora (Solomon) Hins, Fargo, ND; two grandchildren, Charlotte and Oliver; brothers Glenn (Jane) Williams, Fargo, ND, Scott Williams, Fargo, ND, and Kelly (Annell) Williams, Dallas, Texas; step-children Nick (Erin) Berthelsen, Maplewood, MN, Caleb (Malisa) Berthelsen, The Dalles, OR, and Peter (Stephanie) Berthelsen, New Brighton, MN; step-grandchildren Saphira, Hermione and Jeremiah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Judy Williams.

Memorial Gathering: Sunday, 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Memorial Service: Monday, 1:00 P.M. in Bethel Church, Fargo, ND. The service will be livestreamed on her page at www.wrightfuneral.com.

Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
