Myrtle C. Olson

Myrtle C. Olson died on January 18, 2010 at St. Mary's Oak Crossing Cedar Ridge, Detroit Lakes, MN. Myrtle Christina Grefsrud was born October 11, 1915 to Gustav and Martina Bratlien at home in rural Hawley, MN. She attended country school in Parke Township, Clay County, MN. Myrtle married Oscar T. Olson on December 30, 1936. They lived on a farm in rural Lake Park, MN until they moved to Lake Ida in 1951. Myrtle was a stay at home mother who was a caregiver to all of those around her. She was also an avid gardener and baker. She was active at Cormorant Lutheran Church and worked as the custodian for 35 years. Oscar passed away July 19, 1961. Myrtle continued to live at the lake until 2001, when she moved to Lincoln Park Senior Living, Detroit Lakes, MN. In May 2007, she moved to St. Mary's Oak Crossing Cedar Ridge, Detroit Lakes, MN. Myrtle is survived by one daughter, Yvonne Robert Fiedler, Shoreview, MN; three brothers, Raymond Joan Grefsrud, Hawley, MN, Earl Priscilla Grefsrud, Sedona, AZ and Ardean Adele Grefsrud, Cascade, ID; four sisters, Ardell Robert Nelson, Helena, MT, Glenda David Bengtson, Pelican Rapids, MN, Lorraine Grefsrud, Fargo, ND and Wanda Carl Erickson, Hitterdal, MN; sisters-in-law, Muriel Grefsrud, Hawley, MN and Joanne Grefsrud, Webster, WI; one granddaughter, Dayna Sam Herrington, Bowling Green, OH; great-grandson, Alex Herrington. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son, Gary Roger Olson; one daughter, MayDean Olson; three brothers, Orvald, Norris and Vernon Grefsrud; two sisters, Mamie Peterson and Thelma Peterson.
