Roger W. Landblom

November 5, 1951 — February 24, 2022

Roger W. Landblom, 70, died on February 24th, 2022 at Walker Methodist Care Suites in Edina, MN.

Roger was born on November 5, 1951 in Fargo, ND to Russell and Violet Landblom. He graduated from West Fargo High School in 1969 and Moorhead State University in 1973 where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Science. He worked as an industrial education teacher, but knew that was not his true calling. He attended North Dakota State University studying pre-mortuary science and later graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with a B.S. in mortuary science. Roger joined the Ivers-Landblom Funeral Home in 1976 and later bought the funeral home, where he served countless families with compassion over many years. Roger was dedicated to his work and took great pride in helping families during challenging times. He also managed the Ivers-Landblom apartments for several years. He enjoyed working alongside his wife Kathy and his parents throughout his career.

Roger was married to Becky (Farsdale) Haley from 1971-1990. They had two daughters together: Robin and Shannon. Roger married Kathleen (Peeples) Landblom in 1993. They remained married until 2018 when Kathy died after battling cancer.

Roger was proud of his heritage and had many fond memories of farming with his family and friends. He had many hobbies throughout his life, including sailing, snowmobiling, target shooting, and building things in his workshop. Some of his most joyous times were sailing on Leech Lake and throughout the Caribbean and spending time with family and friends. Later in life, he and Kathy enjoyed spending time shooting target pistols, trap, and socializing at the Red River range. Roger also volunteered at the range, including teaching a youth gun safety course.

In September 2021, Roger moved to Edina, MN to be closer to family. It was a difficult decision to move away from Fargo, but he was happy to be surrounded by his children and grandchildren during his last several months. Roger’s greatest joy and pride in life was his family, especially his five grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face.

Roger is survived by his two children, Robin (Steve) Wisniewski, Rochester, MN and Shannon (Tom) Leach, Edina, MN, and five grandchildren: Philip (17) and Noah (14) Wisniewski, and Addison (5), Emmett (2), and Isabel (2) Leach. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine (Bill) Pederson, Eden Prairie, MN. Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Landblom, his parents, Russell and Violet Landblom, and an infant brother.
