Wilma Oberg

Wilma Jean Oberg, 74, of Moorhead, died Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Eventide in Fargo.

Wilma Jean Johnson was born July 23, 1942, in Moorhead, to Warren and Marilyn Dickelman Johnson. She grew up in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1960. After high school, she attended Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, MN for one year.

At the age of 14, Wilma attended 4-H camp in Crookston, MN, where she met her husband of 55 years, Ernest Oberg. Wilma and Ernie were married on March 24, 1962, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead. They made their home in Kragnes, MN, where they farmed and raised four boys. In 2004, Ernie and Wilma moved to Moorhead.

Wilma was a life-long member of North Buffalo Lutheran Church, where she was active in circle and was treasurer of WELCA for over 30 years. More than anything, Wilma loved taking care of her family. She prepared many meals and delivered them out to the fields for Ernie and the boys. She took an active role in the lives of all her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Wilma also loved being at the lake, watching the sunset and listening to the loons. Over the years, Ernie and Wilma enjoyed traveling. Together they traveled throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Wilma was loved by all who knew her and she will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her husband, Ernie; her sons, Mark Oberg Nancy Voss, Steve Karen Oberg, David Lisa Oberg, and Bryan Oberg Liz Palmer; grandchildren, Dana, Taylor, Amanda, Ben, Elli, and Haley; great-grandchild, Peyton; sister, Connee Jeff Fadden; and brothers, Gary Diane Johnson, Greg Renee Johnson, and David Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lori.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. The funeral service will follow on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Moorhead.
